From: Computerized clinical decision support system for diabetes in primary care does not improve quality of care: a cluster-randomized controlled trial

Variable

Maximum score

Target

HbA1c

2 (4 × 0.5)

0.5 point for each quarter that HbA1c is measured in the previous year

Blood pressure

2 (4 × 0.5)

0.5 point for each quarter that blood pressure is measured in the previous year

LDL cholesterol

1

If LDL cholesterol is at least one time measured in the previous year

Microalbuminuria

1

If microalbuminuria is at least one time measured in the previous year

A prescription of statin

1

If a statin is prescribed in the previous 6 months

A prescription of aspirin/clopidogrel

If no hypertensive drugs are prescribed, the patient must have a systolic blood pressure < 130 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure < 80 mmHg to get a score of 1 point. If systolic blood pressure > 130 mmHg or if diastolic blood pressure > 80 mmHg, the patient is diagnosed with hypertension.
