Data were analysed across three stages: Interview transcripts were randomly selected for analysis from each unit. Stage 1: The first author read interview transcripts, randomly selected from each study ward. Stage 2: Transcripts were interrogated at a descriptive level for barriers to using Electronic Medication Management Systems (EMMS). Stage 3: Participants’ statements about barriers to EMMS use were coded into 14 conceptual domains comprising the Theoretical Domains Framework. Individual barriers were tabulated by domain.
